Joan Speight - Landscape Artist

 Marazion anemones
Oil on canvas

Springtime Mount's Bay

On retiring in 2000 from a career in local Government and the Foreign Office I moved to Cornwall' and was able to fulfil a lifelong love of painting by 'painting for pleasure'.
I have been tutored by local professional artists in Cornwall and have been lucky enough to have had guidance and encouragement from the artist John Piper and Mercedes Smith M.A.
My first choice of medium is oil and my paintings are inspired by the colour and texture of the Cornish landscape.    My love of experimentation with colour and impasto I hope gives my work a vibrant quality which brings movement and energy into each piece.
My work has been selling since 2006 and can be seen at The Market House Gallery , Marazion and on their website also on line at
