Joan Speight - Landscape Artist

Profile

On retiring in 2000 from a career in local Government and the Foreign Office I moved to Cornwall' and was able to fulfil a lifelong love of painting by 'painting for pleasure'.

I have been tutored by local professional artists in Cornwall and have been lucky enough to have had guidance and encouragement from the artist John Piper.

My first choice of medium is oil and my paintings are inspired by the colour and texture of the Cornish landscape.    My love of experimentation with colour and impasto I hope gives my work a vibrant quality which brings movement and energy into each piece.

My work has been selling since 2006 and can be seen on line at www.orangehat.co.uk and in the Market House Gallery, Marazion and  Morvah School House Gallery, Morvah, Pendeen.

A two day Exhibition of my work on the l3th/l4th of August 2011 is being hosted by Linden Homes at their new development in Marazion.   Sixteen paintings will be on show in their Marketing Suite, 5 St, Michael's Reach, Oates Road, Marazion from 11.00 - 5.00pm.    An opportunity to view both the paintings and  these new homes situated on the edge of the bay with the most enviable of views.

My work (six paintings, prints, cards and calendars) is also on show at the yearly Cape Cornwall exhibition in St. Just which supports Cancer Research UK.    The exhibition is open from Wed. 3rd August 2011 until 19th August, 10.00 am - 9.00 pm daily.  A wonderful Exhibition of Crafts from across Cornwall - not to be missed.

Trees, Seas and Sea Birds      The Exhibition at Morvah School House Gallery in May 2010 was an opportunity to hang some 12 paintings and thanks to excellent weather there were plenty of visitors.     A further exhibition space has been booked for 2012.

Well 2010 sailed by with work in the Cape Cornwall Exhibition      and also Winter Light Exhibition at Morvah School House.
Having now printed cards of a selection of art work I was able to include these in the exhibitions with good sales.
The cards are now been stocked in two outlets in Marazion, Cobble Corner and Marazion Deli as well as the Morvah School House Gallery.
I've been unable to partipate in the Open Studios this year due to continued building works in Oates Road which prevents easy access but will be up and running in May 2012 with cards, limited edition prints and of course work that is in progress.
